Services

There are several levels of editing, and the lines between them are often blurred. Below are basic descriptions of the services I offer, but sometimes a hybrid approach is necessary. We can discuss your goals, needs, and budget to find the best approach for your project.
Developmental Editing In editing, this is the first line of defense. I'll review your text and identify big-picture issues involving structure, organization of ideas, logic, and focus. I'll offer suggestions for addressing problems and work with you to resolve them. Line Editing At this stage, your ideas are organized, and you've got a solid draft. I'll review your text and offer suggestions on paragraph and sentence structure, word choice, and flow. I'll identify redundant and inconsistent information, flag wording that may confuse readers, and help you cut your word count if needed. Copy Editing When the content, organization, and wording are in good shape, you're ready for a copy editor. I'll go through every word of your document and fix errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation. I'll make sure numbers, abbreviations, names, and other elements are used and styled consistently throughout. And I'll identify any major problems that may have been overlooked in earlier editing stages. |
